If you choose to eat grains, then here’s some really interesting research showing yet another benefit of why you should be eating wholegrains over refined grains.

The positive link with wholegrains and weight regulation is likely from the fibre and is a characteristic of observational research; now an intervention study explains the possible mechanism for it.
Wholegrains have been shown to be superior in the diet when compared with refined grains, suggests new research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
They increased calorie loss by decreasing the number of calories retained during digestion, while simultaneously speeding up metabolism. Likewise, wholegrains such as brown rice, may help weight loss by decreasing calories retained during digestion.
Previous research has indicated that whole grains and high dietary fiber intake have several health benefits, such as for glycemic control and insulin sensitivity. However, scientists have been unable to agree whether whole grains and fibre help to regulate weight.
