According to new research, women hoping to conceive should follow a healthy diet for years in preparation. Apparently, pregnancy nutrition has shown to impact the development of babies.

A new study led by researchers at The University College of London has revealed the importance of a healthy and consistent diet when it comes to motherhood.

Women aiming to become pregnant are of course already advised about risk factors such as alcohol and smoking when it comes to starting a family, but diet can sometimes be overlooked.

Experts believe it is imperative women are to be a healthy weight before pregnancy, which can mean diet and exercise changes may have to begin years earlier to ensure optimum health for the baby.
