Everybody wants a quick fix with nutrition. These easy options rarely exist, but in terms of managing or reducing the risk of Type 2 Diabetes, chromium supplementation may be an option that provides benefits without taking much willpower.
A review of 25 RCTs found that on average, Chromium supplementation reduced HbA1C by 0.55% and fasting BGL’s by 1.2mmol/L. This is pretty significant for such an easy addition.
The mechanism behind this is likely related to a reduction in insulin resistance due to an increase in receptor signalling.
Overall, addressing the diet as a whole is way more important than any individual supplement, but it is definitely something simple that is worth looking into if it is relevant for you or people you know.
